Shyteize Major of Buffalo is hoping for a kidney from a living donor. The 29-year-old was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at the age of 16 and is now working with the transplant center at ECMC.

“I have struggled with diabetes and just being a young adult at the same time – from having crisis where I had to be admitted to the hospital or just grasping the fact that I have to give myself insulin shots before every meal,” Shyteize explained. “I couldn’t enjoy regular food or do certain things like a regular teenager or young adult.”

Diabetes has caused damage to her kidneys and to her eyesight, and Shyteize has had cataract surgery on both eyes. “I would like to get a kidney before I have to be put on dialysis,” she said. “I just want to be able to live my day-to-day life without pain, feeling sick and nauseous every day.”

“I want to be able to travel abroad,” she noted. “I have my passport and it needs stamps from every island possible.”

“I want to live a beautiful and long life,” Shyteize said. “Please help me get a kidney. Thank you.”
