National Pediatric Transplant Week is focused on ending the pediatric transplant waiting list and honoring pediatric donors and their families. This April, more than 2,170 kids in the U.S. are awaiting a lifesaving organ transplant. Most pediatric patients – more than 1,200 – are waiting for a kidney.
In 2024, there were a total of 832 children in the United States who received kidney transplants. More than 230 of those were made possible by living kidney donors.
National Pediatric Transplant Week is a collaboration of Donate Life America, the United Network for Organ Sharing, the American Society of Transplantation, the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, and Transplant Families.
