Matt Jowsey of Buffalo is seeking a living kidney donor. His friends and family are sharing this graphic to help reach potential donors:
It reads:
Help me find a living kidney donor.
In 2021, I found out I was born with one kidney that wasn’t working well.
My kidney function declined rapidly and when it was at 20%, I was evaluated for a transplant and found to be a good candidate, and placed on the transplant list. My kidney function has continued to decline and I'll likely need to begin dialysis soon.
While I have been fortunate to avoid dialysis up to this point, my latest test results indicate it’s time to begin the process.
The transplant team told me it could be years before I receive a donor kidney from a deceased person. They encouraged me to post this information and ask everyone to share it with as many people as possible. They stressed that a living donor is the best option for me to live a longer, healthier life and sharing this may help in my search.
My blood type is B which means I can receive a kidney from a living donor with type B or type O blood.
