IPRO's 'Kidney Transplant Compare' Helps Patients Select Their Center

It was created by IPRO, the End-Stage Renal Disease Organization for the Network of New England, Network of New York, Network of the South Atlantic, and Network of the Ohio River Valley. End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Networks are responsible for developing local objectives and goals that support nationwide priorities mandated by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the legislative requirements of Congress.

Kidney Transplant Compare is a comprehensive resource offering more than 130 key information points about each participating center. The information included in the resource is based on patients’ responses when asked what they would have liked to know about transplant centers before starting their transplant journey.

This application, launched by IPRO in June 2023, allows users to search, save, and compare more than 41 transplant centers across 13 states (New York, Vermont, Massachusetts,  Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, North Carolina, South Caroline and Georgia).

Patients can learn the basics of kidney transplant and access free resources to support learning, creating a life plan, and deciding if kidney transplant is the best treatment option for them. Patients and providers can search, filter, and save transplant centers that the patient is most interested in based on location, patient selection criteria, available support services, and national outcomes data. Saved transplant centers can be compared to choose the best center for the patient and family.
