JaQuan Casselman of Niagara Falls is hoping that a living donor will come forward to provide him with the kidney transplant he needs. Family and friends are spreading the word with a post that shares his story and QR codes for informational videos from TransplantInfo.com. The flyer also features the contact number for the transplant clinic at Erie County Medical Center, where he is listed.
"JaQuan was diagnosed with a rare chronic kidney disease known as F.S.G.S at the age of 15 years old," his aunt Shemika McDowell explained in a post on GoFundMe. "With this disease, JaQuan has been fighting to preserve his kidney function for the past 10 years. Unfortunately, this disease is not reversible and has no cure. JaQuan has been fighting for his life on a day-to-day basis with the knowledge that in the future he would eventually need a kidney transplant. JaQuan has completely lost all his kidney function recently and has now been receiving dialysis 3 times a week in order to maintain his life."
His information is also online through the Kidney Connection at https://kidneyconnection.org/my-story-jaquan-casselman/.
