The Kidney Foundation of WNY joined Donate Life New York State for a legislative education event in Albany on April 16.

Nader Sayegh, New York State Assemblyman, Yonkers met with Donate Life volunteers Patricia King, Donna Ferris and Kidney Foundation of WNY Director Jeremy Morlock.

Among the topics was a proposed update to the New York Anatomical Gift Act which would allow a close friend to make a lifesaving gift on behalf of a deceased individual who has not documented their decision to be an organ, eye, and tissue donor.

In addition, we championed the Doorways to Donation Act of 2024 providing individuals with the opportunity to enroll in the NYS Donate Life Registry through their electronic health records (EHR). Learn more and see additional photos at donatelifenys.org.

Crystal D. Peoples-Stokes, NYS Assemblywoman hosted Donate Life New York State and individuals with a personal connection to donation and transplantation for a Donate Life Month press conference at the Legislative Office Building in Albany on April 16.

DMV Commissioner Mark J.F. Schroeder was among the speakers at the conference and urged New Yorkers to increase our state's percentage of registered donors.
