2017 Tree Decorating Ceremony

The Kidney Foundation of WNY and Erie County Medical Center held a tree decorating ceremony in the lobby of the ECMC dialysis center on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017. The event honored the donor families and living donors who have so unselfishly given the Gift of Life to many recipients across Western New York. It also helped to bring awareness to the importance of organ and tissue donation and transplantation.

The tree was decorated by donor families, living donors, transplant recipients, dialysis patients and those waiting for life-saving organs. Transplant recipients placed green ornaments on the tree, while dialysis patients placed red ornaments. Donor families added gold butterflies, while living donors added silver butterflies.

Rev. Dr. James Lewis, Director of Pastoral Care at ECMC, served as master of ceremonies. Speakers included ECMC Chief Operating Officer Andrew L. Davis, Vice President of Transplant and Renal Services Phyllis Murawski, Kidney Foundation Executive Director John Auldino, living donor Debra Hughes, tissue recipient Carol Tompolski, dialysis patient Trennie Rodgers-Davis, donor mother Robin Ebling, Unyts Senior Family Support Specialist Darlene Aymerich and Patti Merritt of the Kidney Connection.
